Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. ...A predominantly ground oriented martial art which was originally derived from traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. In the past decade, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu's popularity has spread due to its success in mixed martial arts contests. ...

In the mid-1920's, Carlos Gracie opened the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He taught the skills he learned from Japanese Judo master Esai Maeda. The skills were later modified to use less strength and to be more effective against larger opponents. ...A grappling art first developed in Brazil in the early 1900's with a heavy emphasis placed on groundwork and submissions.

KID'S BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU

Every child should be put into some type of developmental activity when they are young such as dance, gymnastics or a martial art. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best and most efficient martial arts for adult as well as for children. It promotes confidence, discipline, respect, and many other developmental qualities.

Jiu Jitsu will also give your child mental clarity and improve on their mental mind-state. The physical part plays a big role, but the mental aspect is just as important. Your child will develop a sense of discipline which results from the “never give up” attitude that Jiu Jitsu instills in people when realizing that hard work pays off.

Finally, FRIENDS! Jiu-Jitsu is amazing for kids (and adults) because they will develop bonds with their training partners. Eventually your training partners turn to family, and I can’t think of anything more positive than that.

At IFA Martial arts we have a great kids BJJ program aimed at the kids from 5 years old through to 12 years of age. We have a structure program for kids to learn and be graded.

The kids classes are run by Professor Richard Awad and Coach Anthony Savva
